Eastern Cape Coast Artist Retreat – Winter 2026

In winter 2026, artist and facilitator, Lara (Kruger) Nieuwenhuis will host a small-group artist retreat on the Eastern Cape coastline, roughly midway between East London and Gqeberha.

Designed as a focused, immersive working period, this retreat offers space, structure, and attentive guidance for artists seeking to deepen their practice. Rather than prioritising production or outcomes, the week supports sustained engagement with process, inquiry, and decision-making within one’s work.

Held for a maximum of six artists and open to all mediums, the retreat includes small-group guided sessions, one-on-one mentorship, independent studio or field work time, and structured reflection and feedback. The approach is responsive rather than prescriptive, meeting each artist where they are in their practice.

Two date options are offered (June or July 2026), both intentionally aligned with the new moon and spring tides.

Tuition fee: R12 000 (tuition only; travel, accommodation, and meals excluded)
