Khamissa Art Festival
Khamissa Art Festival 2026: A New Cultural Gathering Rooted in History, Art, and Exchange
A new cultural moment arrives in Cape Town this April 2026 with the first-ever Khamissa Art Festival, taking place on Saturday, 25 April 2026, 10:00 - 16:30 at the Centre for Creative Education in Plumstead. The festival brings together artists, makers, and the public in a vibrant, one-day gathering that reimagines art not just as expression, but as exchange, memory, and collective care.
A Living Cultural Exchange
With over 40 vendors, the festival features a wide range of creative work – from graffiti and digital art to crochet, plants, and handmade goods – positioning artists not just as sellers, but as carriers of culture, storytellers of lived experience and shapers of tomorrow.
The programme includes:
Six artist-led workshops offering hands-on creative learning steered by the artist themselves
A high-energy Sketch Battle and Spray Paint Jam
A curated exhibition, “Where We Come From / Where We Are Going”
A Makers Corner which presents a space for artists, makers and interested people to make and create in communion with others
Kiddies Corner for interactive and guided fun so that parents can engage in the festival
A vibrant Food Market, Music, Entertainment and Open Mic
♿ Accessibility & Inclusion
The festival is designed with accessibility in mind, including:
Dedicated parking for elderly visitors, people with disabilities, and families
A R20 entry fee, with flexibility for those unable to afford it
Accessible toilets to accommodate mobility aids
